We may all experience anxiety from time to time, particularly during periods of uncertainty, change or stress. When it becomes persistent, overwhelming or difficult to manage, it can affect emotional wellbeing and everyday functioning, including sleep, relationships, work, study and decision-making.
Psychological support can help you develop a better understanding of your anxiety, explore the underlying factors contributing to it, and develop strategies that support your wellbeing and your ability to navigate everyday life.
You do not need a formal anxiety diagnosis to seek psychological support. Therapy can focus on the difficulties you are experiencing and the goals you would like to work towards.
Support is tailored to the areas of life where anxiety is getting in the way.
Persistent worry, racing thoughts, uncertainty and difficulty switching off.
Developing strategies to recognise, understand and respond to intense emotions.
Exploring self-critical thinking, self-doubt and the patterns that may be affecting your confidence.
Working collaboratively to understand avoidance, and supporting gradual, meaningful engagement with everyday activities.
Exploring how anxiety may affect connection, boundaries, communication and interpersonal confidence.
Support during periods of change, including transitions in education, work, relationships, family life and identity.
Anxiety can affect young people in different ways, including school-related worry, social concerns, perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, avoidance, sleep difficulties or reduced confidence. Anat works with adolescents in a supportive and collaborative way, with parents or caregivers involved as appropriate and helpful for the young person.
For adults, anxiety may be connected with work, relationships, parenting, study, health concerns, major life changes or ongoing pressure. Therapy can provide space to understand these experiences, identify unhelpful patterns and develop practical and emotionally informed strategies.
Anxiety can sometimes be associated with experiences of trauma, or with situations in which a person has felt unsafe, powerless or overwhelmed. Where clinically appropriate, Anat may draw on Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based intervention for PTSD, which explores how trauma may influence thoughts, beliefs and emotional responses. Its use depends on each person’s clinical needs, suitability and treatment goals.
Anat draws on evidence-informed approaches and tailors the work to your circumstances, strengths and goals.
How thoughts, emotions and behaviours feed each other, and more helpful ways of responding.
Supporting psychological flexibility and helping you take meaningful action in line with your values.
Exploring longstanding emotional patterns, beliefs and relationship experiences that may influence current difficulties.
An evidence-based trauma-focused intervention for PTSD, used when clinically appropriate and aligned with treatment goals.
Developing awareness of thoughts, emotions and bodily experiences without automatically reacting to them.
Considering how early and ongoing relationships may influence emotional safety, self-understanding and connection with others.
