At All for One we know that massage can play a key role in health and wellness. One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage therapy is a therapeutic form of massage. When muscles are knotted, tense or damaged, remedial massage therapy offers a holistic method of healing using gentle, strong and deep or shallow movements. Remedial massage therapy uses techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and a range of stretching and cross-fibre techniques. Soft tissue techniques may be used to increase circulation or deeper, stronger movements may be used to release tight muscles and relieve long-term pains or injuries.

> Trigger point therapy deactivates the trigger points that cause pain or referred pain in other parts of the body. Pressure is applied to alleviate the source of pain.

> Deep tissue massage is a firm remedial pressure massage that works specific muscles and tension areas. It helps relieve muscle spasm and any associated pain while also improving flexibility and posture. Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue.

> Sports massage uses remedial techniques to improve recovery and reduce the pain in muscles, joints and tendons as a result of sporting activity.

Relaxation Massage

A relaxation massage is a whole-body hands-on treatment that uses pressure, with long smooth gliding strokes, kneading and rubbing to help you relax. It helps de-stress and loosen up your body and is great for those who have had a hard working week or feel like treating themselves to some TLC! In a relaxation massage, less emphasis is placed on working out chronic underlying muscle tension — the adhesions or “knots” and muscle restrictions in the muscle tissue, because deep tissue work can be uncomfortable; and during a relaxation massage you just want to drift away and feel good.Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle style of massage designed to improve circulation, encourage overall relaxation, improve range of movement, relieve minor muscle pain, increase energy levels and improve overall physical and mental performance. It’s a good choice if you’re getting your first massage of if you just want to bring your stress level down. This is the massage to choose if you just want to chill out, and be pampered and spoiled.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. Enhancing the function of muscles and joints, improving circulation and general body tone, and relieving mental and physical fatigue. The gentle, non-invasive approach of prenatal massage can ease discomfort associated with pregnancy and help the mother-to-be prepare for labor.
In pregnancy massage your therapist will target all the pregnancy trouble spots; lower back, tired feet, shoulders, neck and shoulders. Relax, renew, revive while you lie face down on a specially designed cushion for total bliss.

Remedial Massage is also available from our Physiotherapist’s. Claimable on your Private Health Physiotherapy extra’s. Parking is available at our Yarraville massage centre so you will arrive relaxed and ready for a massage.
