READ MOREHow to use a TENS machine during labour
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) offers a drug-free method for managing labour pain. The Elle TENS machine that we hire out at All For One is specifically designed to assist expectant mothers during childbirth. Here’s a guide on how to effectively use the Elle TENS machine during labour.

Understanding the Elle TENS Machine
The Elle TENS works by emitting mild electrical impulses through electrode pads placed on the skin. These impulses stimulate nerve fibres, encouraging the release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers.
Setting Up the Elle TENS Machine
Insert Batteries.
Connect Electrode Pads: Attach the electrode pads to the lead wires provided.
Position Electrode Pads: Place the pads on your back as follows:
Connect to Device: Plug the lead wires into the top of the Elle TENS unit.
Using the Elle TENS Machine During Labour
Power On: Turn on the device by pressing the on/off button.
Adjust Intensity: Begin with the lowest intensity setting. Gradually increase until a comfortable tingling sensation is felt. This helps your body to start releasing endorphins.
During Contractions: When a contraction begins, press the ‘Boost’ button located at the top right of the unit. This provides continuous stimulation to help manage the increased pain. After the contraction ends, press the ‘Boost’ button again to return to the previous mode.
Contraction Timer: The Elle TENS+ model includes a built-in contraction timer. Press the ‘Boost’ button at the start and end of each contraction to record its duration.
