01## Who we see.

Three kinds of work, and the person you see is trained for the one you need.

### Individual therapy

One to one work for adults, on whatever is making life harder than it needs to be. This is the bulk of what we do, and it is where most people start.

### Couples therapy

For two people who want to understand what keeps happening between them and do something about it. You come together, and the work is on the pattern rather than on who is right. Anat has trained in the Gottman Method, which is built on decades of research into what actually keeps couples together.

### Teenagers

Therapy for teens in their own right, with parents involved as much or as little as is useful. Anxiety, school pressure, friendships, mood and confidence are the usual reasons families call.

02## What we help with.

The reasons people most often come to us:

i.Anxiety, panic and phobias

ii.Depression

iii.Trauma and PTSD

iv.ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder

v.Self-esteem

vi.Relationship difficulties

vii.Parenting and family challenges

viii.Self-harm and suicidal ideation

ix.Perimenopause and menopause

**Not listed** Call us anyway. We’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right people, and if we’re not, we’ll point you to who is.

You don’t need the right words to start.

03## Therapy with a clear focus.

How the work is run, so you know what you are agreeing to.

### Proven methods

Your psychologist works from established, evidence-based approaches, chosen to suit you rather than a single house style.

### A focus from the start

You’ll agree together on what you’re working on in the first session, so the work has a direction from day one.

### Reviewed as you go

What’s helping and what isn’t gets talked about openly, and the plan changes when it needs to. You’re never just going through the motions.

04## Who you’d be seeing.

The person matters as much as the method, so take your time with this part.

### Anat Cossen

Registered Psychologist · Hampton East and online

I’ve always been curious about people, wanting to understand why we think, feel and behave as we do, and how our relationships, experiences and environments shape us. That curiosity continues to inspire my work, and it motivates me to help others understand themselves more deeply and live fuller, more meaningful lives.

Working as a psychologist has made me a more compassionate and accepting person. It has taught me that everyone is doing their best as they navigate life’s unique challenges, and I feel privileged to walk alongside my clients during these times.

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults from all backgrounds, particularly those who are willing to explore themselves, even when the process feels uncertain or challenging. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing clients gradually feel lighter, more connected to themselves, and less burdened by what they’ve been carrying. I also have a particular interest in supporting women through perimenopause and menopause, a season of life I believe deserves far more care than it usually receives.

My clients would describe me as warm, genuine and empathetic. I work to create a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood and accepted. I believe people are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to support you at your own pace as you discover what feels right for you.

06## Common questions.

### Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly with us. A referral only matters if you’d like Medicare rebates, which need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.

### How do Medicare rebates work?

You book a longer appointment with your GP and talk through what’s going on. Your GP prepares a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral, and Medicare then rebates part of the fee for up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year, with a short GP review partway through. Call us beforehand and we’ll tell you what to ask for.

### What happens in the first session?

Your psychologist will explain how confidentiality works, then talk with you about what’s brought you in and what you want to work on. Nothing needs to be prepared, and “I’m not sure where to start” is a perfectly good way to start. You’ll leave knowing what the focus is and what working together would look like.

### Is it confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between you and your psychologist, with the narrow legal exceptions every psychologist works within, such as serious risk to someone’s safety or a court order. Your psychologist will explain where those lines sit in your first session.

### How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you’re working on, and we won’t pretend otherwise. You’ll agree on a focus early and review as you go. No lock-ins.

### Can I have sessions online?

Yes. Video sessions run anywhere in Australia, and Medicare rebates apply to those too.

### Do you see teenagers?

Yes. We see teenagers as clients in their own right, with parents involved as much or as little as is useful for that young person. If you are looking for support for a younger child, call us and we’ll point you towards someone who can help.

### I’m booking for my teenager. What should I know?

Plenty of parents book the first session, and plenty of teenagers turn up unconvinced. That is normal, and it is workable. Anat spends the first session getting to know your teenager rather than pushing for answers, and how involved you are is whatever helps, from sitting in at the start to waiting outside. What your teenager tells her stays confidential, with the same narrow legal exceptions that apply to adults, and she will explain where those lines sit to both of you. If you are not sure they are ready, call us and we’ll talk it through before you book anything.

### Do you see couples?

Yes. Couples sessions are for two people working on what happens between them, rather than one person being the problem to be fixed. Both of you come to the same appointment.

### Can I see a psychologist if I already come to All for One?

Yes, and you’d be very welcome. Nothing from your sessions is shared with anyone else here, or anywhere else, without your consent.

### What’s the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medication. A psychologist provides therapy: structured, evidence-based work on how you’re thinking, feeling and coping. Many people see both, and with your consent your psychologist can liaise with your GP.

### Where are you?

Our psychologists see people at our Hampton East studio on the Nepean Hwy in bayside Melbourne, with parking on site, and online anywhere in Australia.

If you need support right now, please don’t wait for an appointment. Lifeline 13 11 14, or 000 in an emergency.
