Clinical Pilates · Kingsville · 3012# Clinical Pilates in Kingsville

You already know what the problem is. You just haven’t had anyone look at it properly.

Kingsville is a quiet run of streets sitting between Yarraville and West Footscray, with Somerville Road cutting through the middle of it and Kingsville Primary School in the thick of it. It’s a pocket, not a strip. Almost nothing you need is actually on your doorstep, so you’re already in the habit of driving a few minutes for it.

We’re at 13 Campbell Street in Yarraville, which is that same few minutes down off Somerville Road. There’s no station here, so essentially everyone drives, and it’s a short enough run that you can get an early class in and still be where you need to be afterwards.

13 Campbell Street, Yarraville. HICAPS on the spot. No referral needed.

What it is## Clinical Pilates, explained properly

### “So it’s a Pilates class with a physio watching?”

No. [Clinical Pilates](https://www.allforone.com.au/classes/clinical-pilates/)
starts with a one-on-one assessment with a physiotherapist. They take your history, watch how you actually move, and write a program for your body and the thing that’s bothering you. The class is where you do that program. It looks like Pilates from the doorway. It works like physio.

### “What does capped at four mean in practice?”

Four people in the room, four different programs, all running at once. Nobody is counting reps at the front. Your physio moves between you, corrects what needs correcting, and changes your program when your body is ready for the change. There is nothing to keep up with, because nobody else is doing what you’re doing.

### “How is it different from Reformer?”

[Reformer Pilates](https://www.allforone.com.au/classes/reformer-pilates/)
is one sequence taught to the whole room, and it is genuinely good once your body is ready for it. Clinical is individualised, capped at four, and run by a physio. Reformer trains the room. Clinical trains you. We run both and we honestly don’t mind which one you end up in, as long as it’s the right one.

Who it’s for## What we see most from Kingsville

Mostly people who are not injured enough to stop, and not comfortable enough to ignore it. The back that goes every few months. The knee that’s fine until it isn’t. The body that used to bounce back on its own and has quietly stopped doing that.

- Back or neck pain that keeps coming back after it settles
- Recovering from an injury or an operation and unsure what’s safe yet
- Rebuilding after a baby, at whatever point you’re at
- Coming back to exercise after months or years off
- Building strength through midlife and menopause
- Hypermobility, instability, joints that feel loose or unreliable
- Persistent pain where strength needs building slowly and carefully

If you’re somewhere in that list, the assessment is the useful part. Plenty of people from Kingsville come in expecting to be told to rest and get told the opposite, with a plan attached.

Why here## Coming down from Kingsville

### It’s a drive, and a short one

No rail here, so nobody is catching anything. You come off Somerville Road, down through the back streets or through Yarraville proper, and you’re at Campbell Street in a few minutes. It’s the same trip you already do for a coffee or the Sun Theatre, just with a different reason attached.

### There are closer rooms. This isn’t one of them.

You could walk into a gym-run Pilates class in Seddon or West Footscray and get a decent workout. That is a different product. What you get at [our Yarraville studio](https://www.allforone.com.au/physiotherapy-yarraville/)
is a physiotherapist who assessed you, wrote your program, and is in the room while you do it. If that’s not what you need, we’ll say so.

### We’ve been here since 2018

Two minutes from Yarraville Village. Long enough that we’ve seen people through pregnancies, surgeries, three separate returns to running and one very stubborn shoulder. The point of a local clinic is that you don’t have to re-explain yourself every time you come back.

How it works## Starting with an assessment

**First, a one-on-one.** Just you and a physio, in a private room. History, what hurts, what you’ve tried, what you actually want to get back to. Then they watch you move, which usually explains more than the story does.

**Then a program.** Written for you, on paper, with reasons. Not a generic set of exercises with your name on top. If something in it aggravates you, it gets changed rather than pushed through.

**Then classes, capped at four.** You work through your own program with a physio in the room. Bookings run into the evening Monday to Thursday, plus Saturday mornings, so it doesn’t have to eat a work day.

**It changes as you do.** Your program gets reviewed and progressed. Some people move on to Reformer, some move into one-on-one [physiotherapy](https://www.allforone.com.au/treatment/physiotherapy/)
for a stretch, some stay in Clinical for years because it’s the thing that keeps them upright.

FAQ## Your questions, answered

How do I get to you from Kingsville? You drive. There is no station in Kingsville, so almost everyone comes by car. From Somerville Road it is a short run south into Yarraville, and we are at 13 Campbell Street, about two minutes from Yarraville Village and the Sun Theatre. It is the sort of trip you stop thinking about after you have done it twice.

Do I need a referral from my GP?No. You can book the initial assessment yourself and come straight in. If you do have a Medicare Care Plan from your GP, bring it and we will use it. We also take TAC and WorkCover clients. If you are not sure whether your situation needs a doctor first, call us and we will tell you honestly.

What actually happens in the first appointment? You get a physio to yourself, in a private room. They take your history, ask what you want to get back to, and watch how you move. You will usually do some gentle work on the equipment so they can see how your body responds. You leave with a program written for you and a clear idea of what comes next.

I am unfit and my back is bad. Is this too advanced for me?No, and that is close to the most common starting point we see from Kingsville. The program is built around what your body can do on the day you walk in, not around what a class is doing. Because everyone in the room is on their own program, there is no pace to keep up with and nothing to fall behind.

Can I claim it on my health fund?Yes, in most cases. Clinical Pilates is run by physiotherapists, so it is generally claimable on physiotherapy extras rather than gym or Pilates cover. We have HICAPS in the studio, so the rebate comes off on the spot and you only pay the gap. Your exact rebate depends on your fund and your level of cover.
